Rajsthani Bhajan- Nani Bai ka mayro - aaja aaja re sawariya lyrics

Nani Bai ka mayro - aaja aaja re sawariya lyrics

Jai Shri Krishna,

Nani Bai was daughter of Narsi bhakt. Narsi bhakt ji were devotee of Lord Krishna(thakur ji).
Narsi Bhakt ji were not economically strong and used to be engaged in devotion of Thakur ji.

‘Mayro’, or the independent word ‘mayra’ represents a Rajasthani (related to the Indian State of Rajasthan) tradition, when a boy/girl is married, a set of gifts (anything like clothes/ornaments/ etc., according to their economic capability) from his/her mother’s house are sent for each member of the other family (in which he/she got married)

Nani bai ro mayro (“The mayra of Nani bai”) is a story in Rajasthan where this girl named Nani bai is married, but her family cannot afford the mayra at all, and she has to face big taunts due to that. But she was a great devotee of Lord Krishna, and thus kept on praying to him to resolve her problems. The story says listening to her devotion and honest prayers, Lord Krishna himself comes to earth in a disguised (human) form, and helps her fulfill her wish so that her marital home gets a big mayra :).

Aaja aaja re sawariya lyrics-

Its a very beautiful bhajan.
This bhajan is in Rajsthani language, I have tried to write it down with the help of someone else.
Please point if any mistake is there.

Meera bai bhajan and Introduction

Meera Bai small introduction

Meera was a princess of a small kingdom in Rajasthan. From childhood she was devoted to Krishna. She was married queen into the royal house of Chittor. Though the family deity was goddess Durga, she continued to worship and sing of Krishna. Her songs of devotion to Krishna became popular and she came to be called a saint. She declared that she was married to Krishna. When her husband the king died, she refused to be 'sati' or the wife that climbs the funeral pyre with the dead husband. Many were the tribulations she was subjected to. She braved them all. The end came as she wished, while she was singing of Krishna.

As I say, she was subjected to many tribulations(suffering) by her in-laws,
Here is one bhajan based on that:

In this bhajan, Rana is referred to her brother in law, Vikramaditya, new ruler of Chittor after her husband's death. He tried to kill Meera in many ways, but everytime Krishna saved her.

(Saari saari raat Meera, hari gun gaaye re,
Hari gun gaaye Meera, Mast ho jaaye re)

(Every night Meera chants Hari Naam,
She was overjoyed in this)

(Raana sent poison to her Prasadam, Meera thought its nector
It actually turned into Nector,
She started to drink it herself , and also gave it to Krishna)

(Rana put a snake in a flower basket and told her that it was a gift from him to her Lord Krishna, but when she opened it she found  an image of Krishna,
She started to dance with Krishna)

Bhajan - Kishori mohe sohni den sikhavo

Kishori mohe sohni dev sikhaavo - Radhe Krishna bhajan

This bhajan I like a lot.
This bhajan is sung by Shri RaviNandan Shastri ji.
This bhajan is written by Gopal Baba in sewa kunj.
Gopal Baba used to use Sohni Seva(like cleaning etc.).
One day, Pujari of Seva Kunj said few harsh words to Gopal baba about how he can't even do cleaning properly.
Then Gopal Baba wrote this bhajan requesting Radha rani about teaching him Sohni Seva.

(Kishori, Please teach me sohni sewa,
Do not say any harsh words to me, just smile and shower your mercy on me)

(Lakhs of rays of your mercy shower on me,
Start to give your blessings to me)

(Please smile, and tell me gently, do not use harsh words)

(These lines says about ourselves,
We are saying to ourselves - O Crazy, start to work in service of others,
O Radhe, if we fail to do so,
Give a sweet slap on our face, so that we can correct ourselves)

(O Radhe compassionate, elegant, Krishna's Jewel,
O Goddess of Raas, ingenious, Goddess of Vrindavan)

(Radiant, Sweet, ever young, O Radhe)

(Radhe sada mujh par rahmat ki nazar rakhna)
(Radhe always keep an eye of mercy on me)

(main daas tumhara hu, itni to khabar rakhna)
( I am your servent, Please keep this in mind)

(Wahan duniya tarah rahi hai,
yahan rahmat baras rahi hai)

Beautiful Holi Bhajan

Holi Bhajan

This is a very beautiful Holi bhajan.
Holi color has so different meaning in context of our thakur ji(Shri Krishna).
Dark colors means colors of this sense of belonging of this world.

In this bhajan, it is requested to God that give your own color to us, we don't want red, yellow etc.
When we listen to bhajans like "aaj brij se holi re rasiya", when we talk of color, we are actually talking of color of love towards Shri Krishna.

(Shyaam piyaa mori rang de chunariyaa)

(Laal nahin odu, main to peeli nahin odu,
apne hi rang mein rang de sawariyaa)

(Bina rangaaye main to ghar nahi jaungi,
beet jaaye chahe saari umariyaa)

(jag bhogo ke daag ye gehre,
inko chuda ke apne pyaar mein rang de)
